Can beet juice actually make my penis bigger?
Beet juice is high in nitrates. Your body turns nitrates into nitric oxide. Nitric oxide, a gas naturally produced by the body, may help prevent ED. But beet juice can't make your penis bigger.
What the research says
According to some studies, beet juice lowers blood pressure. A 2014 study found that drinking one cup of beetroot juice daily lowers blood pressure, as do some blood pressure medications. In theory, if ED is caused by high blood pressure, drinking beetroot juice on a regular basis may alleviate symptoms.
Nitric oxide and ED
Nitrate-rich beet juice Nitrates are converted to nitric oxide. Natural nitric oxide may prevent ED.
Nitric oxide opens blood vessels and maintains corpus cavernosum pressure to sustain an erection, according to research. The corpus cavernosum is sponge-like, blood vessel-rich erectile tissue. Brain and nerve signals cause the corpus cavernosum to relax and become engorged with blood. The blood becomes trapped and triggers an erection.
How to use beet juice
The best way to obtain beet juice is to process fresh beets, including the greens, through a juicer. Bottled beet juice is also available at most natural health stores and juice bars. Shots of fresh beet juice are also available in some stores.
Because beets are naturally sweet, no sweetener is required to make beet juice taste good. Juice a carrot or celery stalk with the beet to cut the sweetness. Beets complement ginger, apples, and oranges.
Risks of using beet juice
Moderate beet juice consumption is generally safe. Even a modest amount of beets can cause crimson urine (beeturia). After stopping, the condition will go away.
If you have calcium oxalate kidney stones, restrict beets. Beets are high in oxalates, a compound found in many foods.
Nitrates expand blood vessels and lower blood pressure, so limit beet juice if you have high blood pressure.
Beets are high in sugar. Diabetics should avoid them.
